1.Performance and use
1,4-Dioxane is miscible with water and most organic solvents. Forms explosive peroxides when anhydrous. Has a clear ester flavour.
1,4-Dioxane is used as a reagent for chromatographic analysis and as a solvent for acetic acid fibres and their derivatives.
1,4-Dioxane is used as a solvent for cellulose acetate, vegetable oils, mineral oils, soluble dyes, etc. It is used in the production of spray paints, varnishes, plasticisers and lubricants.
1,4-Dioxane has the general properties of ether, mainly used as extractant in medicine and organic synthesis, stripping agent of paint, solvent and dispersant of dyestuff, as well as replacing tetrahydrofuran in polyurethane synthetic leather.
1,4-Dioxane can be used as solvent of polyurethane synthetic leather, amino acid synthetic leather, resin vegetable oil, mineral oil, medicine, paint, dye; stabilizer of 1,1,1-trichloroethane; used in plasticizer and antioxidant.
