Diethylenetriamine DETA CAS 111-40-0 DETA

Diethylenetriamine, also known as diethylene triamine or diethylenetriamine, has the molecular formula C₄H₁₃N₃. Its molecular weight is 103.17. It is an aliphatic diethylenamine containing two primary amine groups and one secondary amine group. DETA is a colorless or pale yellow, transparent, oily liquid with a pungent ammonia-like odor. It is soluble in water, acetone, benzene, ethanol, and methanol, but is sparingly soluble in n-heptane and insoluble in ether. It is hygroscopic and readily absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide from the air. It is strongly alkaline and corrosive to copper and copper alloys. It forms a white haze in the air. Its explosive limits in air are 1%–10%. It is toxic, with a permissible concentration in air of 1 μg/g.
