Sodium 1-Hexanesulfonate is an anionic surfactant and chaotropic agent derived from hexane sulfonic acid. It appears as a white crystalline powder, odorless, with a slightly bitter taste. Highly soluble in water, it functions as an ion-pairing reagent commonly used in analytical chemistry (e.g., HPLC) to improve separation of neutral or hydrophobic compounds.
