The principle and performance characteristics of using melamine formaldehyde resin as a wet strengthening agent and water repellent: Due to the presence of hydroxymethyl groups in melamine formaldehyde resin, an etherified structure can be formed between fiber bundles. This cross-linking between different molecules generates water resistance, enabling the paper sheet to achieve the effect of increasing wet strength. Therefore, it is mainly used as a wet strengthening agent and water repellent in the papermaking industry
