Triisopropyl Borate CAS 5419-55-6

Triisopropyl borate is an organoboron compound with the chemical formula B(OCH(CH₃)₂)₃. It appears as a colorless liquid with a sharp, alcohol-like odor. Reacts with water (hydrolyzes), but soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, isopropanol, toluene, and diethyl ether. Commonly used as a reagent in organic synthesis for the preparation of boronic esters, as a source of boric acid in various reactions, and as a crosslinking agent in silicone rubber and polymer formulations. Also functions as a flame retardant additive, a corrosion inhibitor, and a catalyst in certain condensation reactions. Highly moisture-sensitive; should be stored in tightly sealed containers under an inert atmosphere away from water and humidity.
