Honokiol 35354-74-6

Houpol is an isomer of houpol; it is a dimer formed by the polymerization of the side chain of one phenylpropanoid with the benzene ring of another phenylpropanoid. Known as a new lignan, it is commonly found in plants of the Lauraceae family and serves as the active ingredient responsible for the antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of the traditional Chinese medicine Magnolia officinalis. Magnolol and homomagnol are colorless, needle-like crystals that are sparingly soluble in water but readily soluble in chloroform, benzene, ethanol, and caustic alkali.
