Glycylglycine 556-50-3

L-Glycylglycine is a white, leaf-shaped crystal with a melting point of 260–262°C (decomposition). Its solubility in water at 25°C is 13.4 g/100 mL; it is readily soluble in hot water, sparingly soluble in alcohol, and insoluble in ether. It is obtained by the condensation and decomposition of glycine. Mix glycine and ethylenediamine in a 1:56 ratio, stir, and maintain at 174–176 °C for 50 minutes. Then, place the mixture in an ice bath for 20 hours. After filtration, add water and heat to dissolve the glycyl anhydride. Cool to obtain light brown crystals, filter, and wash with methanol to obtain the crude product. Recrystallize the crude product from water, sterilize, and dry to obtain the final product.
