DL-homocysteine lactone hydrochloride is produced using DL-methionine as the raw material. Homocysteine is first synthesized through a reaction with concentrated sulfuric acid, followed by reduction with tin powder, impurity removal, and vacuum concentration. The final product is obtained through recrystallization in ethanol. Although the raw materials are inexpensive and readily available, the overall yield is relatively low.
