Dithioerythritol, also known as dithioerythritol (DTE), is a stereoisomer of dithiothreitol (DTT). The two hydroxyl groups of DTT are in the Su configuration, while the two hydroxyl groups of DTE are in the Red configuration. Application of dithioerythritol, also known as dithioerythritol (DTE), can be used as a reducing agent and deprotection agent for thiolated DNA. It is also commonly used for the reduction of disulfide bonds in proteins to prevent the formation of intramolecular or intermolecular disulfide bonds between cysteine residues in proteins.
