What is Barium Carbonate?
Barium Carbonate is an inorganic compound appearing as a white, odorless, crystalline powder. It is insoluble in water but soluble in most acids, with the exception of sulfuric acid. The compound occurs naturally as the mineral witherite and is widely used in the ceramics, glass, and chemical industries. It exhibits high density and chemical stability under normal conditions.

Application:
Electronics: Used to produce electronic materials such as ceramic capacitors (MLCC), PTC thermistors, and other components like barium titanate.
Glass production: Used in the manufacturing of optical and sputter glass.
Ceramics: Used as a fluxing agent in glazes to lower melting points and improve the durability of ceramic glazes.
Pigments and paints: Used in the production of pigments.
Other applications: Acts as a precursor for superconductors, fluorescent materials, and barium ferrite.
Safety Profile:
Barium Carbonate is highly toxic if swallowed or inhaled. Causes serious health effects and damage to organs. Use appropriate personal protective equipment including respirator, chemical-resistant gloves, and safety glasses when handling. Avoid breathing dust. The substance is very toxic to aquatic life. For detailed safety information, always consult the full Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
Storage Requirements:
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. Keep containers tightly closed and sealed. Maintain storage temperature below 30°C. Relative humidity below 65% recommended. Store away from acids and food products.
Transport & Packaging:
Barium Carbonate is packaged in moisture-proof paper-plastic composite bags with inner polyethylene liner (25 kg net weight per bag). Transport as hazardous material according to applicable regulations. Ensure containers are properly sealed and protected from moisture during transportation. Store away from incompatible materials.
