 Applications 

1. Multipurpose Inorganic Magnesium Source: Magnesium carbonate is a white, odourless, weakly alkaline mineral powder with a theoretical MgO content of 47.8% and practical grades supplied at 40% to 43.5% MgO, giving formulators a cost effective magnesium carrier and an inert, acid soluble filler that stays stable in dry air.

2. Filler And Smoke Suppressant For Plastics And Rubber: Used as a filler in PVC, polypropylene and phenolic resin systems and as a reinforcing agent in neoprene rubber, it also acts as a smoke suppressant that decomposes endothermically at around 350 °C, releasing carbon dioxide and leaving a magnesium oxide layer that shields the polymer from heat and oxygen.

3. Extender Pigment For Coatings, Inks And Paper: Its whiteness and fine particle size make it an effective extender in paints, varnishes and printing inks, where it adds body, improves suspension and thixotropy to stop pigment settling, and produces a matte white finish of the kind used on projection screen coatings.

4. Ceramics, Glass And Refractory Raw Material: Acts as the magnesium oxide carrier in ceramic glaze and glass batches, lowering the melting temperature and improving glaze appearance and the chemical durability of the finished glass, and forms the base of refractory brick, fireproof board and heat insulating compositions required to withstand very high temperatures.

5. Sports, Personal Care And Food Grade Options: The basic hydrated form also serves as gym and climbing chalk that absorbs sweat and improves grip, and as an absorbent in talc, foot powder and tooth paste; where the matching grade and certificates are supplied it works as an anticaking agent in table salt and powdered foods and as a magnesium source in animal feed.
