Zerumbone CAS 471-05-6

Zerumbone is a naturally occurring sesquiterpenoid compound with the chemical formula C₁₅H₂₂O, extracted from the rhizomes of Zingiber zerumbet (shampoo ginger). It appears as a colorless to pale yellow crystalline solid or oil with a characteristic spicy, woody aroma. Insoluble in water, but soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, acetone, ethyl acetate, and hexane. Commonly used as a fragrance ingredient in perfumery, cosmetics, and personal care products (such as soaps, lotions, and candles) for its warm, ginger-like scent. Also functions as a natural preservative and antioxidant additive in certain food and beverage applications, as well as a bioactive compound in agricultural formulations. Stable under normal storage conditions and should be kept in tightly sealed containers away from light, heat, and air.
