UV-320 CAS 3846-71-7

UV-320 is a benzotriazole-based ultraviolet light absorber, with the chemical name 2-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-4,6-bis(1,1-dimethylpropyl)phenol. It appears as a pale yellow to yellow crystalline powder, with a faint characteristic odor. Practically insoluble in water, but soluble in organic solvents such as methylene chloride, toluene, ethyl acetate, and acetone. Commonly used as a light stabilizer in plastic and polymer materials, particularly in polyvinyl chloride, polyolefins, polycarbonate, polyesters, acrylic resins, and styrenics. Also functions as a UV stabilizer in coatings, adhesives, sealants, and printing inks to prevent photo-degradation, yellowing, and loss of physical properties. Exhibits good thermal stability and compatibility with various polymer systems. Stable under normal storage conditions and should be kept in tightly sealed containers away from light, moisture, and strong oxidizing agents.
