TRIFLUOROMETHANESULFONAMIDE CAS 421-85-2

Trifluoromethanesulfonamide is an organosulfur compound with the chemical formula CF₃SO₂NH₂. It appears as a white to off-white crystalline solid with a faint characteristic odor. Soluble in water, as well as in organic solvents such as acetonitrile, dichloromethane, ethanol, and ethyl acetate. Commonly used as a strong, weakly coordinating counteranion precursor (trifluoromethanesulfonimidate) in organic synthesis, as a catalyst in glycosylation reactions, and as a reagent in the preparation of electrophilic trifluoromethylthiolating agents. Also functions as a stabilizer for lithium-ion battery electrolytes and as an additive in polymer chemistry. Stable under normal storage conditions and should be kept in tightly sealed containers away from strong bases and oxidizing agents.
