What is Tetrahydrofurfuryl Acrylate?
Tetrahydrofurfuryl Acrylate (THFA) is an acrylate monomer containing a tetrahydrofuran ring structure. It is a reactive diluent used in UV-curable, electron beam-curable, and other radical-curable resin systems. Thanks to its unique molecular structure, THFA offers both high reactivity and excellent flexibility, adhesion, and solvent resistance in the final cured film.
This chemical appears as a colorless to light yellow transparent liquid and has a characteristic mild odor. It is soluble in most organic solvents and compatible with a wide range of acrylate monomers and oligomers. THFA is widely used in coatings, inks, adhesives, and elastomers due to its good film-forming properties and low volatility.

Application:
1 Tetrahydrofurfuryl acrylate is used in UV/EB-curable coatings to improve flexibility, adhesion, and solvent resistance on various substrates such as plastic, metal, and paper.
2 In adhesives, it acts as a reactive diluent enhancing tack and elongation.
3 Used in printing inks to enhance adhesion on non-porous surfaces and reduce shrinkage during curing.
4 Commonly applied in photopolymer resins, including 3D printing materials, due to its rapid curing and low odor.
5 Applied in elastomers and sealants for added flexibility and toughness with retained chemical resistance.
6 Serves as a functional monomer in specialty polymer synthesis, offering polar functionality.
