Sorbic acid (E200) is a naturally occurring unsaturated fatty acid primarily used as a global food preservative. It works by inhibiting the growth of molds, yeasts, and select bacteria, effectively extending the shelf life of cheeses, baked goods, wines, and cosmetics.

Application Scenarios:

Food Grade:

1. Baked Goods and Flour Products: Widely used in bread, cakes, pastry fillings, and fresh noodles. It effectively prevents mold growth on the surface of baked goods during storage.

2. Cheese and Dairy Products: Commonly used for surface mold prevention in hard cheeses, processed cheeses, and dairy products. Because it does not inhibit lactic acid bacteria, it does not interfere with the normal fermentation and maturation of cheeses.

3. Beverages and Fruit Juices: Suitable for preservation of carbonated beverages, fruit juices, jams, jellies, and concentrated syrups.

4. Alcoholic Beverages: Sorbic acid is often added in the later stages of wine and fruit wine production to prevent secondary fermentation by residual yeast and ensure stable quality.

5. Condiments and Pickles: Soy sauce, vinegar, compound sauces, pickles, and preserved mustard greens, etc.

6. Meat and Seafood Products: Surimi products (such as fish balls and crab sticks), smoked meat, dried meat products, and canned fish, etc. 

Feed Grade:

1. Feed Mold Inhibitor: When mixed into poultry and livestock feed and pet food, it significantly extends the shelf life of the feed, prevents the production of harmful substances such as aflatoxin due to mold, and protects the intestinal health of animals.

2. Silage: Adding it to silage can inhibit mold growth while preserving the activity of lactic acid bacteria, thus improving the nutritional value of the feed.

Daily Chemical Grade:

1. Skin Care and Personal Care Products: Applied to face creams, lotions, shampoos, eyeshadows, lipsticks, etc. It can have a synergistic effect with other preservatives in the formula (such as phenoxyethanol), enhancing the defense against mold.

2. Wet Wipes and Hygiene Products: Used for antibacterial purposes in products for damp environments such as baby wipes and makeup remover pads.
