Silicon dioxide (SiO2) is the most abundant among all minerals. The silica found in nature is called silica, which accounts for about 12% of the total weight of the Earth's crust. Silica has three different crystal forms: quartz, scale quartz, and orthoclase. Quartz is most chemically stable at room temperature, while the other two are stable at high temperatures. Due to their slow transformation into quartz, they also exist at room temperature. Silica sol is a colloidal solution of silica particles dispersed in water, also known as silica sol or silica hydrosol.
1. Silicon dioxide used as a catalyst carrier for important petrochemical products such as phthalic anhydride, aniline, maleic anhydride, melamine, butadiene rubber, acrylonitrile, etc.
2. It is also widely used for refining petrochemical products, removing aromatic hydrocarbons, and selectively adsorbing and separating organic gases and liquids in certain chemical books.
3. It can also be used as an ion exchanger to remove multivalent harmful elements from water.
4. And for the dry storage of materials, equipment, and other items, as well as the dehydration and refining of high-purity gases.
Toxicity: Industrial grade, food grade, and pharmaceutical grade silica are all low toxicity or non-toxic substances. Food grade products have been certified by authoritative institutions (such as FDA, EFSA) and are safe for human use within the prescribed dosage. They are non carcinogenic and teratogenic.
Skin irritation: Dry silica powder may cause slight physical irritation to sensitive skin (such as dryness and itching). It is recommended to wear a dust mask and gloves during operation; The fine silica particles added to cosmetics have been tested on the skin and have no allergenicity, making them suitable for most skin types.
Environmental safety: Silicon dioxide is stable in natural environments and will not degrade to produce harmful substances. Waste products can be treated as general industrial solid waste and meet environmental protection requirements.
Special reminder: Avoid long-term inhalation of high concentration silica dust (especially coarse particle products), which may cause respiratory discomfort; Food grade products cannot be consumed directly and must be added to food according to standards.
Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated warehouse, away from sources of fire and heat, and avoid direct sunlight.
Keep the relative humidity of the environment below 60% to prevent the product from absorbing moisture and clumping, which may affect its performance.
The packaging should be sealed properly to avoid mixing with dust, impurities, and strong acidic or alkaline substances (except hydrofluoric acid), in order to prevent contamination or chemical reactions.
During storage, it is necessary to regularly check the integrity of the packaging. If any damage is found, it should be replaced in a timely manner to avoid product leakage.
During transportation, it is necessary to load and unload gently to avoid packaging damage, compression, or falling, and to prevent product leakage or clumping.
Transport vehicles should be kept dry and clean, avoiding direct contact with water, rain, and fog. Rainproof measures should be taken during transportation on rainy days.
Transportation of general chemical products does not require special transportation qualifications (food/pharmaceutical grade products must comply with food grade transportation standards and use clean and pollution-free transportation vehicles).
