Creatine (N-methylglycine) is a non-protein amino acid. As an intermediate in the natural metabolic conversion of choline to glycine, it plays a vital role in the human body. It is obtained from four sources: endogenous synthesis, chemical synthesis, plant extracts, and dietary sources. Polymers with creatine as the repeating unit, known as poly-L-serine (pSar), possess excellent biocompatibility; their degradation products are entirely physiologically harmless. Furthermore, poly-L-serine is uncharged and exhibits excellent hydrophilicity and a cloaking effect.
