Magnesium fluoride, chemical formula MgF2, molecular weight 62.31, colorless tetrahedral crystal or white powder. Purple fluorescence occurs under the light. Soluble in nitric acid, difficult to dissolve in water and ethanol. Melting point 1248 ℃, boiling point 2239 ℃, relative density 3.148. Toxic. Used as a spectral reagent, it is also applied in optical glass, ceramics, fluorescent materials for cathode ray screens, and electronics industries. 1. Electrolytic aluminum industry:

As an electrolyte additive for electrolytic aluminum, it is used to adjust the performance of the molten system in aluminum electrolytic cells.
