Melting point 547 ℃, boiling point 1265 ℃, relative density 3.46425, refractive index 1.784. Can dissolve in organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, pentanol, glycerol, ethylene glycol, acetone, ether, many organic acids, esters, etc., but is insoluble in liquid bromine and cannot form polybromides. Has strong water absorption and is highly soluble in water, forming a series of hydrates
