N-Nitroso-N-phenylhydroxylamine ammonium salt is an important analytical reagent that forms water-insoluble precipitates with copper, iron, aluminum, titanium, and other metals. These complexes can be extracted by organic solvents such as chloroform and ethyl acetate. It is primarily used as a precipitating agent for precipitation separation or gravimetric analysis; It can also serve as an extractant for extraction separation or photometric analysis, such as separating copper and iron from other metal ions; precipitating and determining iron from strong acid solutions; quantitatively determining vanadates to form a deep red precipitate; quantitatively determining titanium to form a yellow precipitate; and performing colorimetric determination of aluminum. The precipitates formed by the complexation of N-nitroso-N-phenylhydroxylamine ammonium salt with certain metals have special applications. For example, the precipitate formed with aluminum—tri(N-nitroso-N-phenylhydroxylamine)aluminum salt—can be used as an inhibitor or polymerization retarder in UV formulation products, offering superior performance compared to traditional commonly used inhibitors such as hydroquinone; p-methoxyphenol, and other products. It can extend the shelf life of olefin resins and is suitable for use in UV inks, UV coatings, UV adhesives, photoresists, as well as unsaturated polyester resins, vinyl monomers, and acrylate oligomers, among others, making it widely applicable.
