Hexamethyldisilazane 999-97-3 HMDS

Hexamethyldisilazane is a colorless, transparent liquid that is miscible with many organic solvents. It hydrolyzes readily, releasing NH₃ to form hexamethyldisiloxane. In the presence of a catalyst, it reacts with alcohols or phenols to form trimethylsilyl alcohol or trimethylaroylsilane. When reacted with anhydrous hydrogen chloride, it releases NH₃ or NH₄Cl to form trimethylchlorosilane. It can be produced by reacting trimethylchlorosilane with NH₃.
