Potassium pyrophosphate, also known as tetrapotassium pyrophosphate, produced by melting dipotassium hydrogen phosphate to lose water molecules, white crystalline powder or particles at room temperature, strong hygroscopicity in the air, very soluble in water, but insoluble in ethanol, the aqueous solution is alkaline, inhibit food spoilage, fermentation, 1% aqueous solution of the pH value of about 10.5, 25 ℃, 100g of water in the potassium pyrophosphate solubility is 187g. It is hydrolyzed to potassium phosphate in acid or alkali solution, and mixed with water to form viscous slurry. Previously, cyanide was commonly used as complexing agent to formulate electroplating solution. However, because CN- is highly toxic, it is very harmful to the health of plating workers, and at the same time, the discharge of CN-containing sewage and exhaust gas also seriously pollute the environment. Therefore, nowadays electroplating mainly uses cyanide-free electroplating, and this alternative complexing agent to cyanide is potassium pyrophosphate.
