Sodium dihydrogen phosphate is a phosphate hydrate that can be prepared by the neutralization of phosphoric acid with sodium hydroxide; it serves as a raw material for the production of sodium pyrophosphate and other phosphates. It appears as colorless orthorhombic crystals or a white powder. Its relative density is 1.62066. It is soluble in water, and its aqueous solution is alkaline. When heated to 95°C, it loses two molecules of water to form the anhydrous compound.
