Quaternary ammonium salts can adsorb negatively charged bacteria and exhibit excellent bactericidal activity. Dimethyloctadecyl [3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl] ammonium chloride can be used in the processing of fiber products such as cotton, nylon, and polyester, and has a wide range of applications. Recently, it has also been used in materials such as nonwoven fabrics, foamed polyurethane, and synthetic leather.
