Dimethyl adipate is colorless transparent liquid. Melting point 10-11 ℃, boiling point 115 ℃ (1.73kPa), 112 ℃ (1.33kPa), relative density 1.063 (20/4 ℃), refractive index 1.4283. flash point 107 ℃. Soluble in alcohol, ether, insoluble in water.
Dimethyl adipate is used in cosmetics (in emollients and skin conditioning).
Dimethyl adipate is used as a plasticizer for cellulose-type resins and a finish remover.
Dimethyl adipate is also used in agrochemicals and dye as well as a precursor for the preparation of active pharmaceutical ingredients. Further, it serves as a polymer intermediate. In addition to this, it is employed as a solvent for paint stripping and resins.
Dimethyl adipate is used in cosmetics (in emollients and skin conditioning).
Dimethyl adipate acts as a cosmetic plasticizer.
