Didecyl phthalate (DPHP)
CAS No.84-77-5
Alias: Di-n-decylPhthalate-d4;Didecylphthalate,95%25GR;1,2-Benzenedicarboxylicacid,didecylester;1,2-BenzenedicarboxyChemicalbooklicacid,didecylester;1,2-benzenedicarboxylicaciddidecylester;ai3-02692(usda);Bis(n-decyl)phthalate;Convoil-20
Molecular formula: C28H46O4
Relative molecular mass: 446.66
Structural formula:
1. Performance and use:
Didecyl Phthalate is a primary plasticizer for vinyl resins and also shown to be compatible with polystyrene and cellulosics.
Didecyl phthalate has low volatility, only a quarter of that of dioctyl phthalate (DOP), and has low migration and good resistance to extraction.
Didecyl Phthalate can be used as a plasticizer for vinyl resins and cellulose resins.
Didecyl Phthalate is also used as a stationary liquid for gas chromatography, with a maximum use temperature of 150 °C, and the solvent is acetone, chloroform or methanol.
Didecyl Phthalate can selectively retain and separate aromatic compounds, unsaturated compounds and various oxygen-containing compounds (alcohols, aldehydes, ketones and esters). etc.), halogenated hydrocarbons and hydrocarbon compounds below G.

3. Usage
Didecyl phthalate is synthesized by esterification of phthalic anhydride and decyl alcohol. The production methods of phthalate plasticizers are common, see the production method of dioctyl phthalate (C24H38O4, [117-84-0]. In actual industrial products, there is no complete linear Didecyl phthalate is a mixture of branched chain esters, but the ratio of isomers is different.
