Mercaptoethylamine, also known as cystamine, has the chemical name 2-Amino-1-ethanethiol. At standard temperature and pressure, it is a white to pale yellow solid powder with mild basic properties. In volumetric analysis, it is used for the determination of cobalt, copper, zinc, cadmium, and other metals, and can also serve as a masking agent.
