Calcium acetate is a chemical compound (Ca(CH₃COO)₂) . It works as a phosphate binder, latching onto dietary phosphorus during meals so it can be excreted from the body.

Industrial Grade:
1. Environmentally Friendly High-Grade De-icing Agent (CMA): Calcium acetate and magnesium acetate are mixed to form calcium magnesium acetate (CMA). It is an internationally recognized environmentally friendly de-icing chemical. It is specifically used for airport runways, large steel structure bridges, highways, and ecological protection areas. Ordinary industrial salt (sodium chloride) severely corrodes reinforced concrete and bridges, and burns roadside vegetation, while CMA is virtually non-corrosive and does not harm soil or plants.
2. Grease Thickener: In petrochemicals, calcium acetate is commonly used as an additive and thickener in high-grade "calcium-based greases" or "complex calcium-based greases" to improve the wear resistance and structural stability of lubricating oils under high-temperature, high-load conditions.
Food Grade: Food Additive
1. Food Preservative and Mold Inhibitor: Calcium acetate has excellent inhibitory effects on microorganisms (especially Clostridium bakingis/viscous bread mold in bread). It is often used as a mold inhibitor and preservative for baked goods such as bread and pastries, and while preventing spoilage, it also provides calcium fortification.
2. Buffers and Texture Improvers: As acidity regulators, they stabilize the pH value of foods (such as canned goods and dairy products). In the processing of aquatic products and soy products, they act as coagulants or stabilizers, improving the elasticity and firmness of the food.
Feed Grade: Feed Additives. Added to livestock, poultry, and aquatic feeds, they serve as a highly absorbable calcium source, promoting egg production in laying hens (improving eggshell quality) and promoting bone development in livestock.
