Benzyltrimethylammonium hydroxide (TMAH or BTMAH for short) is a quaternary ammonium base compound with the chemical formula [C₆H₅CH₂N(CH₃)₃]⁺OH -, usually exists as 40% aqueous solution at room temperature (colorless to light yellow transparent liquid), with strong basicity and phase transfer catalytic properties. It is mainly used as catalyst for organic synthesis (such as esterification, polymerization), photoresist developer (semiconductor cleaning) in microelectronics industry, and ion-pairing reagent in analytical chemistry, and its high water solubility and thermal stability (decomposition temperature > 80 ℃) make it widely used in the field of fine chemical industry, but need to pay attention to its corrosive properties (pH > 13) and hygroscopicity, and need to be protected from light and sealed in plastic containers during storage. It should be stored in plastic containers protected from light.
