Antioxidant 5057 is an amine-based antioxidant, specifically a mixture of alkylated diphenylamines, with the chemical composition primarily consisting of styrenated diphenylamine derivatives. It appears as a pale yellow to amber colored liquid or viscous semi-liquid, with a faint characteristic amine-like odor. Insoluble in water, but soluble in organic solvents such as toluene, xylene, acetone, and chlorinated hydrocarbons. Commonly used as a stabilizer in polymer and lubricant industries to protect materials such as polyurethanes, polyamides, elastomers, lubricating oils, and greases from thermo-oxidative degradation. Also functions as an antioxidant in rubber compounding (especially in high-temperature applications), adhesives, and sealants to prevent discoloration and loss of physical properties. Stable under normal storage conditions and should be kept in tightly sealed containers away from light, moisture, and strong oxidizing agents.
