Magnesium chloride hexahydrate (MgCl₂ ⋅ 6H₂O) is a highly water-soluble, naturally occurring inorganic salt. It is widely used as a magnesium supplement, a dietary coagulant for making tofu, a de-icer for roadways, and an industrial raw material for producing magnesium metal.

Food Grade:
1. Traditional Tofu Coagulant: Magnesium chloride hexahydrate is the core ingredient of traditional northern Chinese "salt brine tofu" (firm tofu, dried tofu). Magnesium ions rapidly denature and coagulate the proteins in soy milk. Tofu made with it is elastic, chewy, and has a rich soy flavor, while also providing the body with the trace element magnesium.
2. Food Processing Aid and Mineral Fortification: Used as a magnesium fortifier in some bottled drinking water, sports drinks, and infant formula; in aquatic product processing, it is used to maintain the color and moisture of fish and shrimp.
Feed Grade:
1. Multi-dimensional Mineral Regulation in Aquaculture: Used in freshwater and saltwater aquaculture of shrimp, crabs, etc. During shrimp molting or when stressed by rainy weather, applying magnesium chloride hexahydrate to ponds effectively replenishes magnesium ions in the water, promotes calcium and magnesium absorption in shrimp and crabs, facilitates successful molting, and enhances stress resistance.
2. Feed Additive for Ruminants and Livestock: Magnesium is an activator of many enzymes in animals. Adding appropriate amounts to the feed of dairy cows, beef cattle, or pigs can prevent "grass tetany" caused by magnesium deficiency and improve the yield and quality of meat, eggs, and milk.
Industrial Grade:
1. Building Materials (Magnesium Oxide Products, Core Application): When mixed with magnesium oxide and water in a certain proportion, it forms a structurally robust glassy magnesium oxide saturated air-hardening cementitious material (commonly known as magnesium oxide cement). It is widely used in the manufacture of fireproof boards, prefabricated house wall panels, magnesium oxide manhole covers, marble molds, ventilation ducts, and lightweight partition boards. It features fire resistance, water resistance, and high strength.
2. Environmentally Friendly Road Snow Melting and Dust Suppression: Its aqueous solution has a low freezing point and is often combined with sodium chloride to form environmentally friendly snow melting agents. Due to its low toxicity to plants and minimal damage to soil, it is commonly used for snow melting around urban greenbelts; simultaneously, utilizing its strong hygroscopic properties, it is sprayed on mining roads as a dust suppressant.
3. Textile printing and dyeing and papermaking: In the textile industry, it is used as a fire retardant for fabrics and a neutralizing agent for cotton dyeing; in the papermaking industry, it is used as an auxiliary agent for bleaching fluids.
