L-Cystine is a sulfur-containing amino acid formed by two linked L-cysteine molecules. It plays a critical role in protein structure and is widely used in nutraceuticals, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals to support healthy hair, skin, and nails, as well as to promote cellular antioxidant production (like glutathione).

Cosmetic Grade:
1. Oral Whitening and Anti-aging: L-cysteine is converted into cysteine in the body, a precursor to glutathione, the body's strongest antioxidant. It directly interferes with melanin production in the skin's basal layer, thus it is widely added to whitening pills, spot-removing tablets, or oral beauty serums.
2. Hair Care and Nourishing Products: Added to hair growth serums, anti-hair loss shampoos, or hair masks. Although it is poorly soluble in water, in some formulations it can be microencapsulated or combined with other solvents to supplement hair follicle nutrition and repair damaged hair.
Food Grade:
1. Dough Improver: Although it does not have the strong reducing properties of cysteine, in certain bread or baking processes, it can gradually participate in the exchange of disulfide bonds during gelatinization and baking, helping to stabilize the gluten's skeletal structure and improve the dough's mechanical resilience.
2. Flavor and Fragrance Synthesis: As a sulfur-containing amino acid, it reacts with reducing sugars at high temperatures to produce extremely realistic and rich characteristic aromas of meat (pork, beef), toast, coffee, etc. 3. Dairy products and breast milk-like formulas: Used in special medical purpose formula foods and infant formula as an amino acid fortifier to make its amino acid profile closer to that of breast milk.
