 Applications 

1.Flux For Enamels, Glazes And Ceramic Bodies: In enamel and glaze production it acts as a flux that lowers the melting point of the batch, so firing consumes less energy and the coating levels into a smoother, brighter finish with better thermal shock and abrasion resistance.

2.Brazing, Welding And Aluminium Smelting: Lithium fluoride based fluxes dissolve the oxide layer on aluminium, magnesium and their alloys so molten filler metal flows freely, and it is also charged into aluminium and rare earth electrolysis baths as a bath additive.

3.Optics From Vacuum UV To Mid Infrared: Its crystals transmit from roughly 110 nm in the vacuum UV to about 7 to 9 microns in the infrared, so it is fabricated into windows, lenses, prisms and beam splitters for spectrometers, excimer lasers and X-ray monochromator plates.

4.Battery Electrolyte Additive And LiPF6 Precursor: In lithium batteries it serves as an electrolyte additive that stabilises the solid electrolyte interphase for longer cycle life, and it is a precursor reacted with hydrogen fluoride to make LiPF6 electrolyte salt.
