 Applications 

1. For Lubricant Additives: Succinimide (2,5-pyrrolidinedione, CAS 128-09-6) is a key intermediate in the synthesis of polyisobutenyl succinimide (PIB succinimide) dispersants, which control sludge and deposit formation in engine oils and industrial lubricants, extending oil life and protecting engine components.

2. For Halogenating Agent Production: As the base material for N-bromosuccinimide (NBS) and N-chlorosuccinimide (NCS), succinimide supports the production of selective halogenating agents widely used in organic synthesis for fine chemicals and agrochemical intermediates.
