Hydrocinnamic Acid Cas 501-52-0

3-phenylpropionic acid, also known as hydrogenated cinnamic acid, is naturally present in raspberries and rock roses. When precipitated from ethanol and water, it forms colorless needle-like crystals; when precipitated from ether, it forms colorless prismatic crystals. It has an elegant aroma of coumarin, vanilla bean-like scents, as well as hyacinth and rose-like notes. It is readily soluble in hot water, alcohol, benzene, chloroform, ether, glacial acetic acid, petroleum ether and carbon dichloride. Slightly soluble in cold water. It can evaporate with water vapor. 3-phenylpropionic acid is used as a fixative for fragrances.
