What is of Ferric pyrophosphate CAS 10058-44-3?

Ferric pyrophosphate (Fe₄(P₂O₇)₃) is a stable, highly tolerable iron source used for food fortification. Because of its neutral flavor and white color, it is widely added to cereals, infant formulas, and supplements.

Application Scenarios:

Food Grade: Iron Fortification Agent.

1. Infant Formula and Rice Cereal: Ferrous pyrophosphate is pure white or slightly yellow. Adding it to milk powder or infant rice cereal will not cause the powder to turn black or develop spots, and it has almost no metallic taste, making it acceptable to babies. Furthermore, it will not cause oxidative rancidity of fats in the milk powder during its shelf life, perfectly protecting the product's expiration date.

2. Breakfast Cereals, Nutritional Granola, and Flour Fortification: Widely used in student nutritional cereals, high-zinc and high-iron flour, and high-energy cereal bars. It can withstand baking and high-temperature processing and is unlikely to react severely with phytic acid in grains, causing food discoloration.

3. Dairy Products and Solid Beverages: Used in light-colored soy milk powder, instant milk tea powder, and light-colored fruit juice solid beverages to maintain the product's original bright color.

Industrial Grade: Lithium-ion Battery Cathode Material Precursor.

Lithium iron pyrophosphate and sodium-ion battery cathode materials: Lithium iron pyrophosphate (or polyanion sodium battery cathode material) synthesized using iron pyrophosphate as a precursor has a relatively higher operating voltage. Moreover, due to the extremely low volume expansion rate of the three-dimensional network lattice during charging and discharging (lithium/sodium ion insertion and extraction), it exhibits an extremely high theoretical cycle life and ultra-high thermal safety.
