α-Cyclodextrin (α-CD) is a cyclic hexasaccharide composed of six glucose units linked by α-1,4 bonds, enzymatically produced from starch. Its unique doughnut-shaped structure features a hydrophilic exterior and a lipophilic interior, allowing it to encapsulate non-polar molecules and improve their stability, solubility, and bioavailability in food and pharmaceutical products.

Food Grade:
1. Novel Water-Soluble Dietary Fiber (Dietary Supplement): Alpha-cyclodextrin is not hydrolyzed by salivary amylase and pancreatic amylase in the human small intestine and can directly enter the large intestine where it is fermented by beneficial bacteria. Therefore, it is widely added to health drinks and functional foods as a low-calorie, low-glycemic index (GI) dietary fiber.
2. Lipid Inhibition and Weight Control: Alpha-cyclodextrin can bind and encapsulate saturated fat in the diet at a high ratio of 1:9 in the digestive tract, reducing the body's absorption of fat. Therefore, it is often used in "fat-blocking powders" or weight-loss supplements.
3. Egg-Free/Gluten-Free Baking (Emulsifier Substitute): In vegetarian or egg-free cakes and mayonnaise, it plays an excellent role in emulsification and stabilizing the oil-water interface, replacing the emulsifying function of traditional egg yolks.
Cosmetic Grade:
1. Oil Control and Slow Release: Commonly used in oil-control facial cleansers and anti-acne gels, it can slowly release encapsulated active ingredients (such as salicylic acid and tea tree oil) while absorbing excess sebum on the skin surface.
2. Sunscreen Enhancement: Encapsulating certain chemical sunscreens not only prevents the sunscreen ingredients from directly contacting and irritating the skin, but also improves the photostability of the sunscreen.
3. Odor Deodorization and Suppression in Daily Chemicals: Widely used in fabric deodorizing sprays, underarm antiperspirants, and deodorants. It directly captures and "locks in" small odor molecules in the air or on the skin surface, achieving a physical deodorizing effect.
