What Is Copper(II) Gluconate?

Copper(II) gluconate (CAS 527-09-3) is the copper salt of D-gluconic acid, with the molecular formula C₁₂H₂₂CuO₁₄ and a molecular weight of 453.84 g/mol. It appears as a light blue to bluish-green crystalline powder, is odorless, and exhibits good water solubility — approximately 30 mg/mL at 20°C — making it one of the most bioavailable organic copper compounds available commercially.

Unlike inorganic copper salts such as copper sulfate, copper gluconate features copper chelated to an organic gluconate ligand.
