Ammonium Hexafluorosilicate CAS 16919-19-0 AHSF

Ammonium fluorosilicate, chemical formula (NH4) 2SiF6. Molecular weight 178.4. Colorless crystalline powder. Toxic! There are two isomers, alpha and beta. The α - type belongs to the equiaxed crystal system with a relative density of 2.01. The β - type belongs to the triclinic crystal system with a relative density of 2.15, and can be transformed into the α - type after prolonged heating. Stable in air, soluble in water and ethanol, insoluble in acetone. Completely hydrolyzed into silicates and hydrofluoric acid in hot water. Corrosion of glass in acidic media. Method: Obtained by the reaction of fluorosilicic acid and ammonia gas. Usage: Used as an anti moth agent, disinfectant in the brewing industry, glass etchant, and for light metal casting and electroplating.
