 Applications 

1. High Temperature Binder For Refractories And Cements: Valued as a binder and performance additive in refractory materials and refractory cements, it holds aggregates together where thermal stability, bonding strength and structural durability are the requirements, and it also serves as a high temperature binder for adhesives.

2. Hardener For Potassium Silicate And Water Glass Binders: Added to potassium silicate solutions it triggers chemical hardening through an ion exchange reaction, depolymerisation of the cyclic metaphosphate structures and polycondensation of the amorphous alumosilicate binder matrix, turning a water glass binder into a set, load bearing material.

3. Constituent Of Glazes, Enamels And Specialty Glass: Used as a constituent of glazes, enamels and glasses, it contributes aluminium and phosphate to the melt and is applied where a phosphate glass composition is wanted, including specialty optical and high temperature glass.

4. Corrosion And Oxidation Resistant Ceramic Coatings: Acts as the binder phase in ceramic coatings applied to steel, where it fills the pores between ceramic aggregates, raises cohesion and bond strength, and blocks or lengthens the diffusion path that corrosive media would otherwise take through the coating.

5. Additive For Ceramic Systems And Flame Retardant Formulations: A performance additive in ceramic systems, and in plastics it is blended in at a few percent by weight as a flame retardant additive, where the phosphate chemistry contributes to the char layer that shields the polymer.
