1. Acidulant For Beverages And Confectionery: Its tart, lingering acidity makes it a leading sour agent for soft drinks, lactic acid bacteria drinks, milk drinks, cola style beverages, energy drinks, juices and nectars, and it also sets the acidity of jams, jellies, marmalades and sour fruit candies.

2. Alpha Hydroxy Acid For Skin Care: In cosmetics it acts as an alpha hydroxy acid that supports exfoliation and skin renewal and as a pH adjuster, while its sodium salt brings humectancy, so formulators use it in cleansers, serums, peel products and hair care.

3. Feed Acidifier For Livestock: Feed producers use it to acidify rations, where it improves feed efficiency, lifts palatability and supports gut health in livestock, and it is easy to blend into premixes.

4. Chelating Agent For Cleaning, Metal Treatment And Textiles: Its two carboxyl groups and one hydroxyl group bind metal ions, so it appears in cleaner formulations, in metal cleaning and descaling where a milder organic acid is wanted, and in textile finishing and dyeing baths.
