1. Emollient for Skin Care: 2-Ethylhexyl stearate (CAS 22047-49-0) is a branched-chain emollient ester used in skin creams, lotions, and sunscreens, where it moisturises and conditions the skin with good spreading and a non-occlusive feel.

2. Colour Cosmetics Application: In foundations, lipsticks, and eye products, it improves application and texture, giving a smooth, even finish while carrying the colour and oil phase through the product.

3. Solvent, Carrier, and Wetting Agent: The ester also functions as a solvent, carrying agent, and wetting agent in cosmetic formulations, helping disperse and carry the other ingredients in the system.

4. Metalworking and Industrial Lubrication: It is used as a lubricant in the metalworking industry and for lubrication in plastics processing, where an ester-based lubricant is preferred.

5. Plasticizer For Resins And Polymers: The ester acts as a plasticizer, including use as a resin plasticizer in hair styling resins, and it is applied in plastics and PVC formulations.
