 Applications 

1. Low Refractive Index Anti-Reflective Coating Material: With a refractive index of about 1.38, this white crystalline powder is a widely used low index material for single layer and multilayer anti-reflective coatings on optical elements, eyeglass lenses, filters and instrument glass, cutting surface reflection and glare.

2. Birefringent Crystals For Polarizing Optics: The tetragonal rutile type crystal is naturally birefringent, so polished blanks serve as polarizing prisms, retardation plates and polarizing elements operating between 130 nm and 300 nm, where transparency and optical anisotropy are required at the same time.

3. Additive For Aluminium Electrolysis And Magnesium Metallurgy: Used as a bath additive in the electrolysis of alumina dissolved in cryolite for primary aluminium production, where it helps adjust the electrolyte, and as a flux in magnesium metallurgy and in the recovery of aluminium from arc furnace alloys carrying iron, silicon and titanium.

4. Ceramics, Glass And Vacuum Deposition Source: Acts as a flux in the ceramics and glass industry and as a raw material for special optical glass, while the high purity powder and pieces are supplied as a vacuum deposition source for coating chambers, with grades from 98% up to 99.99% to match the target optical performance.
