 Applications 

1. Food Preservative And Antioxidant E223: Added to dried fruit, wines, beers and other foods it protects flavour and colour, inhibits unwanted microorganisms and limits enzymatic browning, and it also prevents the black spot caused by oxidative deterioration in shrimp and keeps products stable.

2. Dechlorination And Oxygen Scavenging In Water Treatment: It neutralises residual chlorine after disinfection, which is why municipal and industrial plants, pulp and paper mills, power stations and textile works use it, and it protects reverse osmosis membranes and ion exchange resins from oxidant attack while scavenging dissolved oxygen in water and pipes.

3. Cyanide Destruction And Metal Effluent Treatment: In gold cyanidation it destroys cyanide in the process stream, it precipitates gold from auric acid solutions, and in wastewater treatment it reduces hexavalent chromium to trivalent chromium so the metal can be precipitated out.

4. Reducing Agent For Textile, Pulp And Paper Processing: Mills use it as a reducing agent in dyeing and bleaching and as an antichlor that removes residual chlorine after bleaching, and it also serves dechlorination duty across pulp, paper and textile water systems.
