Diethylene glycol diethyl ether is a low toxicity substance with an acute oral toxicity (LD50) greater than 4000mg/kg (in rats). It is less irritating when in contact with the skin, but long-term or repeated exposure may cause dryness and defatting of the skin. Inhaling high concentrations of steam may cause central nervous system discomfort symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, and fatigue.
