Applications
1. Hydroxyl Functional Monomer For Thermosetting Acrylic Resins: A functional acrylate monomer whose pendant hydroxyl group gives the finished acrylic polymer reactive sites, so it can be built into thermosetting acrylic resins that also cure through the hydroxyl group, adding a second crosslinking route to the acrylic backbone.
2. Monoacrylate For UV And Radiation Curable Systems: Supplied as a low viscosity monoacrylate for ultraviolet and electron beam curable inks, lacquers and adhesives, where it copolymerises into the film and its hydroxyl group offers a further handle for post cure crosslinking.
3. Polyurethane Acrylate And Polyol Intermediates: The hydroxyl group reacts readily with isocyanate, making the monomer an intermediate for polyurethane acrylates and photocuring polyurethane acrylate coatings as well as for hydroxy functional acrylic polyols used in two component systems.
4. Adhesion, Flexibility And Chemical Resistance In Coatings And Adhesives: Copolymers built on it give adhesion, flexibility and chemical resistance, which is why it is used in coatings and adhesives for surface modification and bonding work.
5. Hydrogel And Superabsorbent Polymer Monomers: Copolymerised into highly absorbent hydrogel networks, it contributes the hydrophilic hydroxyl groups that let the network take up and hold water, so it is used in absorbent polymer systems where water retention is the functional requirement.
