Sodium formate (HCOONa) is the sodium salt of formic acid. It appears as a white, water-soluble powder or crystalline solid. It is primarily used in industrial applications as an eco-friendly de-icer, a buffering agent in leather tanning, and a chemical intermediate to produce formic acid.

Industrial Grade:

 

1. Concrete Antifreeze and Accelerator: During low-temperature construction in winter, concrete is prone to freezing and expansion, leading to structural cracking. Industrial-grade sodium formate is an excellent environmentally friendly, non-chlorine antifreeze agent. It not only significantly lowers the freezing point of water, allowing concrete to continue hydrating at sub-zero temperatures, but also contains no chloride ions, ensuring it will not corrode the internal steel reinforcement structure, perfectly replacing traditional sodium chloride and calcium chloride.

 

2. Leather Industry (Masking Agent in Chrome Tanning): In leather processing, sodium formate acts as a buffer and masking agent in the tanning liquor. It slows down the binding rate of chromium ions to skin collagen, allowing chromium salts to penetrate deeper and more evenly, thus significantly improving the softness and dyeing quality of the leather.

 

3. Printing and Dyeing & Textile Reducing Agent: Used as a reducing agent, neutralizing agent, and pH adjuster in textile printing and dyeing. After reactive dye printing, it is used to neutralize residual alkali on the fabric and stabilize the color.

 

Oil & Gas Grade


Solids-free, high-density drilling and completion fluids: Similar to potassium formate, sodium formate aqueous solutions have a higher specific gravity and can be used to formulate medium- to high-density drilling fluids. It exhibits a strong ability to inhibit shale expansion in deep well operations. Because it contains no heavy metals or chlorine, it effectively protects oil and gas reservoirs from alkali metal precipitation and significantly reduces ecological damage to underground soils and water sources.


Packing

This product is packaged in a plastic woven bag lined with a polyethylene plastic film bag. The inner bag should be tightly sealed, and the outer bag should be securely sewn. Each bag contains a net weight of 50kg, or as per customer requirements.
