1.Performance and use
Europium oxide is a rare earth oxide with the chemical formula Eu2O3. Molecular weight 351.92. Light rose red powder, hygroscopic, with slight color differences due to different manufacturing methods. With different heating temperatures, two types of crystal structures can be obtained: quasi cubic crystal system and equiaxed crystal system, the latter of which has the same crystal structure as scandium oxide. Relative density 7.42, melting point 2330 ℃. Insoluble in water, soluble in inorganic acids to form trivalent europium salt solutions of corresponding acids, also soluble in formic acid and acetic acid, able to absorb carbon dioxide from the air to form carbonates
1. Used for manufacturing color TV phosphors and tricolor phosphors for lamps
2. As an activator for X-ray intensifying screens
